Your usual Student Support is closed for the Christmas period from Tuesday 23rd December until Monday 5th January, but we still have a range of alternative support available for you.

Our team are responding to emails between 11am and 1pm daily, except bank holidays and you can contact us 0191 515 2933 as usual.

If you wish to access support we have our Out of Hours service running every night between the hours of 6:30pm and 6:30am, including public holidays. Please contact the team on telephone 0191 515 2451 should you need support.

You can contact University Security on 0191 515 2028.

There are two ways you can make a report to the university. You can report anonymously, which means we won’t know who you are, or you can report and tell us who you are and how to get in touch with you.

If you choose to report anonymously, we won’t be able to get in touch with you to offer you any support or to ask any follow-up questions. We will record the information that you provide, and we will use this information to help us identify any problems on campus or in the community. We might share some of this information with our partners like the Police or transport companies.

If you choose to report with your details, a member of the Employee Relations team will contact you directly to offer support. You can choose how you would like us to get in touch with you on the form; you can choose email or phone as the first contact. We can arrange a face-to-face meeting during our first contact if you would like us to.

When we contact you, the Employee Relations Adviser will talk you through what happens next. They will talk to you about any options that you have and what your different reporting options are. Your safety and wellbeing are the most important thing to talk about, you will be under no pressure to make any formal reports if you don’t want to.

Please note that speaking with an adviser does not mean that you are making a formal complaint to the University or the police.

Your information will remain confidential until you decide otherwise. This will only change if you tell us that you or someone else is in immediate danger and we need to keep you or them safe.
