1. Will someone contact my parents or guardians? 
    We would only contact your parents or guardians if you asked us to, or if we were unable to contact you and have a concern about your safety. We would only contact them if you have named them as your ‘trusted contact’, your assigned Wellbeing team adviser will talk to you about this in your initial meeting.  
     
  2. Will making a report impact my course?  Will my lecturers be told? 
    Accessing support doesn’t mean that we will automatically tell your lecturers. If you think you’re struggling on your course, we can support you by talking to your lecturers and exploring any additional support they might be able to offer. We don’t have to tell your lecturers any detail about your experiences.  
     
    If you report to the university that you have been harmed by another student, your lecturers may need to be told so that they can put things in place to keep you safe, this might be things like changing your seminar group or being made aware of non-contact agreements.  
     
  3. Can I report without filling in any details that lead back to me?
    You can choose to make a report without giving your details, so we won’t know that it’s you that has made the report. You can report anonymously HERE

  5. Will I be able to take time away from study following this incident?
    You are able to take a period of time away from university, this is called a ‘Leave of Absence’. It is a formal process that grants you time away from attending classes or your placement, usually between 24 weeks and 1 year. If this is something you would like more information about, please get in touch.

    Please note, taking time away from University can have implications for student visas and students may wish to discuss their options with the University’s International Student Support Adviser prior to taking leave.
     
  6. Will there be repercussions if I report?    
    If you choose to make a report to the university or to the police, the person(s) that you name will be spoken to. We can’t predict what their reaction will be, but we will work with the police and other safeguarding partners to try and keep you as safe as possible.  
     
  7. What will happen to my information?    
    Your information will be stored securely on our Report + Support system and on our internal university database. This information can only be accessed by a small group of dedicated staff. You can find out more about our university privacy policy HERE
     
  8. How long does it take to receive a response to my report? 
    You will receive an initial response to your report within 3 working days.  
     
  9. Can I report incidents that occurred off-campus? 
    Yes. We can support you with incidents that have taken place anywhere and at any time, including things that may have happened a long time ago.  
     
  10. Will I be notified about any actions taken as a result of my report? 
    If you report through Report + Support using your contact details, you will receive information about any complaints that you make. 
    If you report anonymously, we won’t be able to update you about any work that we do directly.
